Aircraft & Vendors > Aircraft Settings > Aircraft Custom Roles
Aircraft Custom Roles previously supported 24 different permissions areas that were not well organized and, in many cases, needlessly granular. We've consolidated the permissions areas down to 7 and aligned them to the newly organized Aircraft Profile with the following applicability:
- Aircraft Profile
- Header
- Profile (tab)
- Ownership (tab)
- Photos (tab)
- Personnel (tab)
- Aircraft Pricing - Pricing (tab)
- Aircraft Billing - all 3 Billing tabs
- Aircraft Operations - all 3 Operations tabs
- Aircraft Equipment - Equipment (tab)
- Aircraft Management - both 2 Management tabs
- Aircraft Maintenance - all 3 Maintenance tabs
Aircraft Custom Roles existing before this update will be migrated to the new model automatically. However, this change is not entirely backwards compatible. This means that users that can access some fields/areas before the update may not be able to see those same fields after the update without a company administrator updating the Role settings. The new permissions area will be set according to the most restrictive setting of the group of the fields that are loosely now incorporated. For example, Aircraft Billing will consider the previous Agreements, Expense Policy, and Credit Cards access. If Agreements and Expense Policy are both 'Full Access', but Credit Card is 'Read Only', then the migrated Aircraft Custom Role will have Aircraft Billing as 'Read Only'. In another scenario, if Agreements is 'Full Access', Expense Policy is 'Read Only', but Credit Card is 'No Access' - then the migrated Aircraft Custom Role will have Aircraft Billing as 'No Access'. This is the best safeguard that users will not have erroneously increased access, but will not cover all use cases so it is highly encouraged to review all of the account active Aircraft Custom Roles following the production deployment.
