2025 May - Aircraft Profile Updates

This article is has been published before these changes are made in Avianis to prepare users. They are expected to be in production on the evening of Wednesday 05/28/25. For customers with Test accounts, some of these changes are now accessible for your advance review.

Reorganizing the Aircraft Profile

In preparation for the new User Permissions model (targeted for release next month) changes were required for the 'Aircraft Custom Roles' and by extension, the Aircraft Profile. The Aircraft Profile has been completely reorganized/redesigned making things easier to find and manage. This update puts similar fields near each other and has grouped fields on more descriptive and granular page tabs. Tabs are designed with the expectation that a single use type/persona would expect to have the same permission level for all fields on a given tab. These changes apply to:
  1. Aircraft & Vendors > Aircraft Search > [select tail]; and
  2. Aircraft & Vendors > Vendor Aircraft Search > [select tail]; and
  3. Aircraft & Vendors > Fleet Search > [select fleet] > Representative Aircraft
Though the page looks significantly different, it is only in its presentation and worth noting this update...
  1. does not change the saved value of any fields; and
  2. does not change the behavior/applicability/usability of any fields.
Some adjustments that were made as a part of this update include:
  1. Edited fields must now be saved with the green 'Save' button for the entire section, in most cases;
  2. Tabs have a scrollable area within the tab itself, for ease of use and accessibility to the 'Save' button;
  3. Many fields that were previously checkboxes are now Yes/No toggles, for clarity; and
  4. If fields are conditional to other values, they are hidden unless applicable.

'Aircraft Custom Role' Remodel

These changes are not fully backward compatible with the current model. If you have users that will be impacted by these changes, your Account Manager will be reaching out directly. If you are unsure how this might affect your operations or have any questions about these changes, please contact us
Aircraft & Vendors > Aircraft Settings > Aircraft Custom Roles
Aircraft Custom Roles previously supported 24 different permissions areas that were not well organized and, in many cases, needlessly granular. We've consolidated the permissions areas down to 7 and aligned them to the newly organized Aircraft Profile with the following applicability:
  1. Aircraft Profile
    1. Header
    2. Profile (tab)
    3. Ownership (tab)
    4. Photos (tab)
    5. Personnel (tab)
  2. Aircraft Pricing - Pricing (tab)
  3. Aircraft Billing - all 3 Billing tabs
  4. Aircraft Operations - all 3 Operations tabs
  5. Aircraft Equipment - Equipment (tab)
  6. Aircraft Management - both 2 Management tabs
  7. Aircraft Maintenance - all 3 Maintenance tabs
Aircraft Custom Roles existing before this update will be migrated to the new model automatically. However, this change is not entirely backwards compatible. This means that users that can access some fields/areas before the update may not be able to see those same fields after the update without a company administrator updating the Role settings. The new permissions area will be set according to the most restrictive setting of the group of the fields that are loosely now incorporated. For example, Aircraft Billing will consider the previous Agreements, Expense Policy, and Credit Cards access. If Agreements and Expense Policy are both 'Full Access', but Credit Card is 'Read Only', then the migrated Aircraft Custom Role will have Aircraft Billing as 'Read Only'. In another scenario, if Agreements is 'Full Access', Expense Policy is 'Read Only', but Credit Card is 'No Access' - then the migrated Aircraft Custom Role will have Aircraft Billing as 'No Access'. This is the best safeguard that users will not have erroneously increased access, but will not cover all use cases so it is highly encouraged to review all of the account active Aircraft Custom Roles following the production deployment
  1. Aircraft Profile permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Profile
    2. Photos
    3. Personnel Assignment
    4. Shared Expenses
    5. Purpose Billing
  2. Aircraft Pricing permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Contracts
    2. Seller Notes
  3. Aircraft Billing permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Agreements
    2. Expense Policy
    3. Credit Cards
  4. Aircraft Operations permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Trip/Flight Log Preferences
    2. Flight Time Configuration
    3. Flight Time Threshold
    4. Flight Following
  5. Aircraft Equipment permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Engines
    2. Avionics Types
    3. Flight Planning
    4. Emergency Equipment
    5. Aircraft Components
  6. Aircraft Management permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Mx Integrations
  7. Aircraft Maintenance permissions will be set the the most restrictive access level of:
    1. Discrepancies
    2. Inspections
    3. Job Cards
