We've moved all of the fields pertaining to aircraft performance and flight time (FT) calculation to a single location on the Aircraft profile. This is in the interest of having all variables that contribute or influence estimated flight time generation be in a single location and in preparation for the additional flight time calculation methods that will be coming in subsequent releases.
It is important to note that, while these changes appear drastic on the page, there are very few functional changes and when the release goes out unless a user goes to the Aircraft Performance tab to change a setting there will be no operational difference in the aircraft performance from before the release.
There is a new 'Performance' tab on the Aircraft profile with the following updates:
- Trip and Quote, Domestic v International flights may have different FT calculation methods. (Read more below.)
- Select between Great Circle or SkyPlan and adjust the settings for each. (Read more below.)
- Estimation Additions including:
- Estimated Flight Time Rounding, moved from the Profile tab
- Now with the ability to select a custom rounding method per aircraft - 10th of an hour OR 5min
- Actual Flight Time Rounding setting remains on the Profile tab
- Taxi Time, moved from the Profile tab
- Turn Time, moved from the Profile tab
- If previously shown as "0.0", this will be displayed as "0.5" as that is what was being applied
- Now with the ability to save as "0.0" and have a 0min turn time (use case for some helicopters)
- Fuel Information - With fields moved from the header and the Profile tab.
- Operating Limits - With fields moved from the Profile and Flight Planning tab.
- Operating Weights - With fields moved from the Profile and Flight Planning tab.
- Users with Custom Aircraft Roles will have the same permissions for the Performance tab as the 'Flight Time Configuration' setting.
Applying FT Calculation Methods
Previously, there was a single selection of a FT calculation method for an aircraft in all use cases, with the ability to "override" SkyPlan (or "global ATC") under Operations > Settings > Configuration > ATC Flight Time Configurations. Now it will be possible to set a different FT calculation method per aircraft/tail for 4 different scenarios:
- Trip, domestic flights
- Trip, international flights
- Quote, domestic flights
- Quote, international flights
The method selected for that use case will be the one automatically applied on create, but it will still be available to change the selection directly on the trip or quote page.
Migration of Previous Calculation Methods
Previously, if the aircraft was not a rotor wing and the module had been enabled for your organization, tthere were 2 configurations on the Aircraft profile for FT calculation:
"Utilize the global flight planning engine to calculate flight estimates based on ATC optimized routes." YES or NO.
If NO (or a rotor wing or and org without the module), then only the Great Circle method was being used in all use cases. Upon receiving this release Great Circle will be populated in all 4 use cases. Other FT calculation methods will be available to you in the coming releases.
If YES, then what is selected depends on what the settings were previously under Operations > Settings > Configuration > ATC Flight Time Configurations. If there were no "overrides", then SkyPlan will be in all 4 use cases. But for those where you may see Great Circle following this release

Great Circle Settings
For Great Circle, all values in the Distance Profile table were considered and could be entered manually or referenced from a template. If the Distance Profile was empty (either manually or due to a null template), then the default cruise alt and speed were used. All of these fields have been copied over exactly and now found under the 'Settings' button next to the drop down where Great Circle is selected. This will continue to function in the exact same way as it does today.

SkyPlan Settings
Though the entire Distance Profile was previously displayed when utilizing SkyPlan (or "global ATC") , only the distance and the Cruise Profile were sent to SkyPlan to generate the FT so this is all that is displayed now in those settings. These have been copied over exactly from what had previously been provided. This will continue to function in the exact same way as it does today.

Connect API Calls
Several new calls have been added and several more have new values returning:
- Currency Conversion, new calls will allow a 3rd party service to update your account exchange rates:
- GET Currencies, list of currency types
- POST ConversionRate
- GET ConversionRate by ID
- GET list of all active/current ConversionRates
- New call of PUT Opportunities
- GET /v1/flightleg has several new fields
- "International": true or false
- "logStatus"
- 2 call for GET Trip Notes now include: CreateDate, CreateUser, LastUpdatedDate, and LastUpdatedUser
Other New Features
- New services integration partner to be announced at NBAA BACE 2024, details will be shared during/after the show!
- Aircraft Events that have the Event Type of 'Offline' or 'Unavailable for Charter' will be sent to Avinode and will indicate as Occupied for that aircraft on the Avinode schedule. Note: If the Aircraft Event has no airport provided, the event will be sent with the home base airport for that aircraft.
- For Locations (custom airports) the field of Country Code has been added. If the value in the previous Country field was recognizable by name or 3-letter code, then that value was automatically populated in the County Code field. If not, then those will need to be manually entered/updated. With the Country Code field provided, Service Templates and other automations based on an airport's country will work appropriately for Locations.
- We've added a control to make Locations inactive/active, and removed the ability to delete Locations as this was creating some bad data and inconsistencies in the account if they had already been used on a Quote or a Trip.
- Airports that are within the "225-mile zone" in Canada and Mexico along the US border are now designated in the Airport Search and also for Locations. In subsequent releases there will be support for tax automation and ability to use this selection for Master Line Items and/or Service Templates.
