Certain maintenance discrepancies have operational impacts on what they can/cannot do during a flight. Configuring restrictions provides clarity and feasibility checks for specific restrictions. This article explains:
how to create a restriction; and
how to apply a restriction to a discrepancy
To create a restriction, navigate to Maintenance > Configurations > Restrictions. Click the Create New button. Next, enter the name of the restriction, select operational limitations (if applicable), and click Create.
Two operational limitations are available when creating a restriction:
Passenger Capacity - if toggled to Yes, a passenger count or 0 or greater is required to be entered. Once this restriction is applied to an open discrepancy, the system checks the trip and/or quote passenger count (excluding lap children) against the number set in the restriction. If the passenger count is exceeded, a critical flag appears in the feasibility and tools.
Day Only - if toggled to Yes, and this restriction is applied to an open discrepancy, the system checks the trip and/or quote to ensure the flight is scheduled to arrive and depart during daytime hours. If the scheduled times are outside of daytime hours, a critical flag appears in the feasibility and tools. Note - daytime hours are based on sunrise and sunset times, not civil twilight.
NOTE: if a restriction is imported via the maintenance integration (CAMP), the operational limitations default to No. The limitations can be modified by editing the restriction.
To apply a restriction, first, create a discrepancy by navigating to Maintenance > Discrepancies and clicking the Create button. A deferral type, other than N/A, must be selected for the Has Restrictions option to appear. Once this data field is available, check the box next to Has Restrictions, and begin typing in the name of the restriction. Restrictions begin to appear after three characters are entered. Select the restriction, then save the discrepancy. This article explains in detail how to create a discrepancy.
