Using the Airport Directory

The Airport Directory allows a user to search based on airport identifiers and addresses. Essential information is provided by our 3rd party provider ACUKWIK.

This article explains:

  • How to search for an airport; and

  • add an airport note; and

  • how to add airport and customs hours; and

  • how to classify an airport.

SEARCH FOR AN AIRPORT

  1. On the Main Navigation, click on Airports > Airport Search. Search for airports based on identifier or physical address. Select the type to search by.

  2. Enter the airport identifier or physical address. Enter the nm distance radius and minimum runway requirement. 

  3. Click "Search"

Here are the results. The yellow icon is the searched location (KDPA) and the blue icons are other airport options with at least a 5000 foot runway and are within a 100 nm radius of KDPA.  

4. Use the compass and zoom in/zoom out feature to navigate on your map.

5. Click on the airport tab and a pop-up appears displaying some general operational info. Click "More Info" to view additional information on the airport. 

6. Under the map opens more operational information, service options and a place to create airport notes.


Search for multiple airports

  1. On the Main Navigation, click on Airports > Airport Search. Search for airports (Airport is the Default) based on identifier.

  2. Enter multiple airport identifiers as displayed below. Enter the nm distance radius and minimum runway requirement, as well as any other appropriate filters

  3. Click "Search

    Note: the line drawn between the two airports shows the great circle arch.




ADD AN AIRPORT NOTE

There are two sections airport notes can be added through. The Airport Search or Notes section. This covers how to create an airport note via the Airport Search

Add Airport Notes through Airport Search 

  1. Access the main Navigation, click on "Airports"

  2. Then click on "Airport Search"

  3. Enter the airport identifier you want to search for. The yellow tag is the location. The blue tags are surrounding airports that are within the search radius and meet the runway length specified.

  4. Click the "More Info" button.

5. Click on the "Notes" tab.

6. Click create, enter the applicable information, associate the airport(s) and click "Save."

  • Subject: This name displays in the feasibility

  • Description: This field is required 

  • Start Date/Time - End Date/Time: This is not a required field. In the case this note contains a specific date and time range, enter the applicable dates and times. Note: Times entered from Airport Search > Airport Detail > Notes Tab for a specific airport, will be in Local time for that airport.

  • Type - Select the applicable type, whether an operational or customs type note.

  • Severity - Select the level of severity. Whether the note is just for information purposes, or if it needs to be defined as a warning or critical item.



AIRPORT, CUSTOMS AND FBO HOURS

Using the Hours tab within an Airport record, operations can capture specific hours of operation and temporary closures for Airports, hours of operation for Customs, and hours of operation for Vendors (FBO's and Handlers)

Airport Hours

  1. Search the airport directory for the airport

  2. Access the hours tab

  3. Click Create New under Airport Hours

  4. Enter the details

    1. Severity - how the flag appears in the trip feasibility

    2. Trip type the hours apply to, if applicable

    3. Days of the week the hours apply to

    4. Optional:

      • Open 24 hours

      • Day Only

      • Closed

      • Custom - then enter from and to hours

      • Depart, Arrive or Both

    5. Comments if applicable

    6. Exceptions to the hours

      • Date Range and Times

  5. Click Save

Note: The trip type selection allows an operation to set up specific hours based on a trip type. For example, if a trip type is charter and the airport enforces specific hours of operation for charter flights, the hours only flag accordingly when the trip type matches on the trip level. 

Customs Hours

  1. Search the airport directory for the airport

  2. Access the hours tab

  3. Click Create New under Customs Hours

  4. Enter the details

    1. Severity - how the flag appears in the trip feasibility

    2. Days of the week the hours apply to

    3. Optional:

      • Open 24 hours

      • Day Only

      • Closed

      • Custom - then enter from and to hours

      • Depart, Arrive or Both

    4. Comments if applicable

    5. Exceptions to the hours

      • Date Range and Times

  5. Click Save

Vendor Hours

  1. Search the airport directory for the airport

  2. Access the hours tab

  3. Click Create New under Vendor Hours

  4. Enter the details

    1. Severity - how the flag appears in the trip feasibility

    2. Vendor (required) - search for FBO or Handler at the airport

    3. Days of the week the hours apply to

    4. Optional:

      1. Open 24 hours

      2. Day Only

      3. Closed

      4. Custom - then enter from and to hours

      5. Depart, Arrive or Both

  5. Comments if applicable

  6. Exceptions to the hours

  7. Date Range and Times

  8. Click Save

Temporary Airport Closures

  1. Search the airport directory for the airport

  2. Access the hours tab

  3. Click Create New under Temporary Airport Closures

  4. Enter the details

    1. Severity - how the flag appears in the trip feasibility

    2. Closure Type (required) - select a closure type from the drop down list. Closure types must be configured in Airports > Airport Closure Types by an Admin

    3. Days of the week the hours apply to

    4. Start Date

    5. End Date

    6. Daily From (Local) and Daily To (Local) - must be entered by day. Day ends at 2359.

      • example: To capture a closure from 2100 Local to 0600 the following day, 2 closures must be recorded, one from 2100-2359 and one from 0000-0600

    7. Comments if applicable

  5. Click Save


AIRCRAFT RESTRICTIONS

Operators can capture by aircraft model, conditional or denied operations into specific airports.

  1. Search the airport directory for the airport

  2. Select the Aircraft Restrictions tab

  3. Click Create New

  4. Enter the details

    1. Severity - how the flag appears in the trip feasibility (required)

    2. Aircraft Models the restriction applies to (required)

    3. Reasons - select a reason for the restriction. Reasons must be configured in Airports > Aircraft Restriction Types by an Admin

  5. Comments if applicable

  6. Save
